With a crowded participation, the Institute of Culture and Arts of the State of Campeche began the activities of the first weekend of the Campeche Jazz Festival 2022.


Those in charge of opening the festival were the musicians Alejandro Mora, Emmanuel Mora and Rigo Pech, members of the University Jazz Group who performed at the Joaquín Lanz Theater of the Autonomous University of Campeche, accompanied by the Cuban saxophonist, arranger and composer Osmani Collado. , performing pieces such as Lady Bird, How high the moon, All the things you are and Softly.


From Tijuana, the music band The Less Likely performed at the Francisco de Paula Toro City Theater with a musical proposal that fused rhythms such as funk, rock and hip-hop, performing pieces such as Partido alto, Afro blue, Hip hop joint and Motion.


The band has a lineup made up of Alejandra Loaiza on vocals, Pako Barragán on guitar, Joel Haros on Trumpet, Moisés Castellanos, bass and Jorge González on drums.


For the third day of the festival and as part of the artistic training activities, the musician Óscar Terán offered a master class for musicians and music lovers at the José Narváez Márquez Cultural Center. Giving way to the concert held on the night of that same day at the «El Claustro» Cultural Center in the company of his Quartet made up of Federico Hülsz, David Sánchez and José Triay, a space that was filled with local and visiting audiences to enjoy their performances. that told an eclectic style through their own compositions and fresh music.


Continuing with the billboard, on Tuesday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m., at the «Francisco de Paula Toro» City Theater, the Calacas Jazz Band will be presented, one of the most representative groups of traditional jazz in Mexico, whose peculiar way of interpreting Hot Jazz has led them to appear in the most important forums and festivals in the country.


On Wednesday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m., the Godoy/Sánchez/Aguilar Trio, made up of renowned musician Paco Godoy, pianist David Sánchez, and bassist Hugo Aguilar, will perform on 59th Street in the Historic Center. Later on Thursday 28 at 8:00 p.m., “Friego” will play at the Juan de la Cabada Theater, a musical project initiated by the renowned Mexican saxophonist and composer Diego Franco and made up of Leika Mochán on vocals, Gustavo Nandayapa on drums, Vico Díaz in the lioness and Misha Marks in the euphonium and guitar; with illustrations by Jimena Estibaliz.


On Friday 29, at 8:00 p.m. at the Francisco de Paula Toro City Theater, Wet Paint Jazz Fusion will be presented, a group made up of various elements: electric and acoustic guitars, alto sax, soprano sax, flute and breath synthesizer , piano, and synthesizer, electric and acoustic bass, drums and percussion.
Wet Paint Jazz Fusion was born in the 80’s with several of the best musicians from Los Angeles, California; being its founder, the legend Roberto Arballo Loreto «Betuco».


And to close the festival this 2022, two activities will be held on Saturday 30: a master class at 11:00 a.m. and a concert at 8:00 p.m., both with the Gin Trio + Federico Hülsz.


With more than twelve years playing original repertoire together under the name Nicolás Santella Trío, in addition to being the rhythmic base of numerous projects with Iraida Noriega, Greg Osby, Federico Hülsz, Baptiste Herbin, Diego Franco, Laura Itandehui, Víctor Correa, etc. ; Gin Trio moves with fluidity and a remarkable cohesion through little-approached repertoire from the tradition of the Piano Trio format.
For his part, Federico Hülsz is a Mexican saxophonist who has been part of the Jazz scene in Mexico City for more than a decade.


Together, the Gin Trio and Federico Hülsz take a journey through Jazz, taking classical repertoire from different eras of this art form, paying homage to the great exponents and historical periods.
