Ana Lucía de la Garza, director of Epidemiological Operational Research of the Ministry of Health, reported this Thursday at a press conference that the number of deaths from coronavirus in Mexico rose to 8; In addition, there are 585 confirmed cases.
According to de la Garza, smoking and liver failure have been the main conditions present in the deaths recorded by Covid-19. Likewise, the groups of people over 65 and those between 55 and 59 have the highest number of deaths from the virus in the country. Of the confirmed coronavirus cases, 58 percent have manifested in men and 42 percent in women.
«Fortunately, 90 percent of the cases have been ambulatory and only 10 percent have required hospitalization,» said the director.
Despite the fact that Mexico has already entered Phase 2 of the pandemic, most of the confirmed cases are imported or associated with importation, with 68 percent and 26 percent respectively; in turn, the cases whose source of contagion has not been identified represents only 6 percent.
