The actor Rafael Amaya, remembered for his leading role in “The Lord of the Skies”, reappeared on television and offered an interview to the program “Hoy Día”, where he had no qualms about referring to his arduous fight against addictions.
Notably recovered, the actor confirmed his return to television in the series “Malverde: The patron saint.” In addition, he spoke of his difficult fight against addictions and acknowledged that his faith helped him overcome this stage.
“It is a day-to-day process. Since I wake up I thank God and ask him to give me strength, and when I go to bed I thank him again. Before I was very agnostic and didn’t believe in God, that’s how bad my situation was. I was ashamed to see myself in the mirror “, said the actor.
When referring to the origin of your addictions, Rafael Amaya denied that his character as Aurelio Casillas led him to fall into that world. As he confessed, materialism, ego and vanity were his greatest enemies.
“It wasn’t the character, it was me, the decision was mine, it wasn’t Aurelio. He trains to leave the character in the closet, wherever, take off his shoes, when you shower and that’s it, but yes I got carried away by many things such as vanity, materialism, ego, boasting, letting myself be seen… The truth was I didn’t have much responsibility in many aspects and there is no school, a manual to be famous ”, counted.
I had dragged on many problems without knowing it, from a very young age, there is no manual for being a father, there are no manuals for living a perfect life. I was wrong and the good thing is that I surrounded myself with people who could help me, who could get me out of that hole, out of that abyss and, well, I also surrounded myself with people I shouldn’t have surrounded myself with; I am making many changes in my life and I am very happy “he added.
On his return to television, Rafael Amaya said he was very happy for the opportunity he has to resume his artistic career. “I feel very happy, very grateful for another opportunity and being in good projects, always original. Now I will be in Malverde, in a special participation … I feel nervous and very excited, but always grabbing the bull by the horns “, He said.
Likewise, the actor took advantage of the interview to send a message of encouragement to people who are going through a difficult time, and to all those who are struggling with an addiction.
“I believed myself to be very powerful, I believed that I could alone, and it was not true. Life is very short, look around you, go to the mirror and ask yourself if you are happy with your life. Talk to your inner child and spoil him, because he must be very angry with you. How you have to have your mother, your father, your brothers and the people who love you “, he stated.
“It is not right for you to make your loved ones suffer for a drug or a drink … React. This will destroy you, you will end up in jail, hospital or dead. Your worst enemy is drugs, and you have to kill it, and you cannot do it alone ”, concluded.
