Mexico City.- 46 percent of all patients with Covid-19 registered so far in the country have recovered, said José Luis Alomía, general director of Epidemiology.

«This is good news because practically half of the cases have been conducted favorably,» he said at a night conference at the National Palace.

He explained that 51 percent of patients with coronavirus remain in isolation and three percent have died.

The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported eight new deaths from Covid-19 in Mexico, bringing the total to 37, and confirmed 1,378 people infected, 163 more than on Tuesday.

In addition, 7 thousand 73 cases have been ruled out and another 3 827 suspects are still under study.

Alomía indicated that most of the people infected with coronavirus in the country are between 30 and 44 years old, that is, they are young adults of productive age.

«Logically, they are the ones that have the greatest mobilization and, therefore, increase the risk of being infected»

With 3.28 per 100,000 inhabitants, Mexico City is the entity with the highest incidence rate of people confirmed with Covid-19, explained the specialist.

Quintana Roo is in second place and Aguascalientes is in third place. Nuevo León and Jalisco are in ninth and eleventh place, respectively.

Alomía explained that there is a higher proportion of people who are hospitalized, with 18 percent of cases, equivalent to 206 patients, mainly older adults.

Of those hospitalized, he detailed, 11 percent have been reported stable, 6 percent severe and only 1 percent have been intubated.

The 37 deceased, he mentioned, had an average age of 56 years and had between two and up to three additional comorbidities, such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension.

86 percent of deaths correspond to men.

The specialist recognized that the epidemic curve in Mexico continues to rise, but shows a different behavior from that of other countries that are currently in phase three of their epidemic.
