The Secretary of Health of the Executive Power of the State, launches the Reconversion Plan of the General Hospital of Specialties «Dr. Javier Buenfil Osorio ”; This new route of medical services is in compliance with current protocols and in an anticipated scenario of care for suspected cases of COVID-19.
The Hospital already has a specific area to care for patients suspected of this disease, with timely access and greater security for users of services and staff, the facilities are divided into one part to serve patients with respiratory problems and another to follow normal operation.
The route for respiratory patients is a sealed isolation circuit separated from the hospital, to avoid the approach of the personnel who will attend to other pathologies and do not have contact with the suspected patient to COVID-19.
The person presenting respiratory symptoms is placed face mask and is applied the washes do hands or using alcohol gel; the doctor reviews risk factors and in case of finding symptoms or alarm signs, he is appointed for a second evaluation; patients with uncomplicated respiratory symptoms are sent home with treatment sintomáti co, general measures, information, alarm and home isolation for 14 days.
For its part, the reconversion area includes a waiting room, an emergency area for both adults and pediatrics, with a capacity of 33 beds for hospitalization and a total of six beds that become intensive respiratory therapy for this type of patient.
They are two offices for adults and one for pediatrics, with the specific operative personnel made up of four emergency physicians, two internists and two pediatric doctors, 10 nurses, stretcher-bearers and trained staff.
To properly operate the isolation circuit in the hospital, all personnel are permanently trained in aspects of the disease, epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, transmission mechanisms, and healthy distance measures.
It also instructs on the hospital isolation model, protection techniques for personnel, preventing infections, how to isolate a patient within the hospital with medical care from the hospital’s internal medicine to unify the management criteria from the emergency department to intensive therapy.
Doctors, emergency physicians, internists, pediatricians, specialist and general nurses, mayors, stretcher bearers, are trained in biosafety measures to prevent infections and thus prevent them from bringing this disease to their homes, they are also instructed in the use of protective equipment staff, psychological support is provided and drills are held so that the staff is fully prepared for these scenarios.
