Authorities perambulate the cruise ship to verify its operation

Tourists from Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg, Mexico, Switzerland and the United States arrived this morning on the French cruise ship Le Champlain, after almost two years of having been suspended trips due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which it will help the economic reactivation and tourist of Campeche. 


At 7:30 in the morning, the embarkation Ponant provincial  from the port of Cozumel touched Campeche lands so that more than 50 visitors were transferred to various tourist spots in the capital, including the Historic Center, museums, traditional neighborhoods, handicraft shops, restaurants, as well  the archaeological zone of Edzná. 
The stay in the port of Seybaplaya lasted more than seven hours with the purpose that visitors could fully enjoy the Campeche attractions, its gastronomy and its people, and with it, return to the entity the map of cruise tourist destinations.


 During his stay in the port, the Secretary of Tourism, Mauricio Arceo Piña, accompanied by the director of the Comprehensive Port Administration of Campeche, Agapito Ceballos; the mayor of Seybaplaya, Cinthya Gelitzi Velázquez Rivera; and the captain of the Le Champlain, Yannick Hervé Marié Simon, toured the ship that has the capacity to serve 184 passengers, and which on this occasion it was occupied by 115 crew members in charge of the function of the cruise. 


«The return of Le Champlain is the starting signal to retake the cruise market for Campeche, it is a sign that we are a destination that has a lot to offer and we have to work to promote it,» Arceo Piña said in an interview, when going down of the ship.


 It will be in January of next year when this cruise ship and others with whom talks are already being held to establish their arrivals and what will be offered to tourists, added the Secretary. 


«More cruises are coming, there are several already scheduled, we will be monitoring them and we will also be promoting the port of Seybaplaya a lot to continue growing in this niche of the tourism market.» 


He stressed, on the other hand, that the good participation of Campeche in the tourist tianguis in Yucatan was the banner of the rebirth of the sector in the state since officially all destinations are already 100 percent open; they are looking to be attractive and start working as before the pandemic. He said that a large influx of tourists is expected for the December holiday period; service providers are preparing so that everything is going to be ready, «2022 is a promising year, we will be working in different segments, such as congresses and conventions, sport events, everything that Campeche has to offer will be working  for next year.» 


Arceo Piña added that they will offer more and new tours to tourists arriving on cruise ships so they can stay longer in Campeche and even spend the night. In total, nine tourists arrived from Belgium, three from Canada, 20 from France, two from Luxembourg, two from Mexico, two from Switzerland and 13 from the United States.
