Around 09:13 a.m. a less intense earthquake was perceived in Cancun and Chetumal, Quintana Roo. So far no material damage or human losses have been reported.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was located in the Caribbean Sea, north of Honduras, had a depth of 10 kilometers and a magnitude of 5.7 degrees.

Despite this, users of social networks reported that the perception of the movement reached Quintana Roo.

«So far this year we have already perceived 2 earthquakes here in Chetumal», «The earthquake in Chetumal was felt strong,» reported users of social networks.

Likewise, through its Twitter account, Civil Protection of the state of Quintana Roo assured the same:

“Today at 9:13 a.m., a 5.7 earthquake occurred off the coast of Honduras, which could be seen in the state of Quintana Roo. The COEPROC informs that for the moment it maintains contact with the municipal directorates of Civil Protection to rule out damages ”.

For its part, the SkyAlert application estimated that due to the low intensity of the earthquake, there is no tsunami alert.
