CARVAJAL MANSION: 18TH CENTURY ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE

0

The Carvajal Mansion, located in the heart of San Francisco de Campeche, is a true architectural heritage dating back to the 18th century. With its elegant colonial style, this imposing building stands out for its façade and its majestic spiral staircase, an element that not only beautifies the space, but also symbolizes the history and sophistication of the time.

Originally built as the home of the Carvajal family, the mansion has witnessed countless historical events. It was the house of the landowner Fernando Carvajal Estrada, who owned the largest estate on the peninsula, Uayamón, and his wife Mrs. María Lavalle de Carvajal.

With its two levels it stands out from the beautiful buildings in the center of Campeche, especially because on the second level you can admire its balconies with wrought iron windows and in most of them you can see the letters “FCI” which are the acronym of the father of the great landowner, who was the main promoter of building a house as beautiful as this one.

It has three patios which are beautifully decorated and delimited by some arches.

Today, it houses the offices of the state DIF, where the well-being and support of the Campechana community is promoted.

Every corner of this magnificent mansion tells a story, and its style and elegance continue to captivate all who visit.

It is located on 10th Street between 53 and 51 in the historic center.
