It will be held within a framework of health security that guarantees the equal participation of journalists from all municipalities
Faced with the present health emergency conditions due to COVID-19, and the confinement and social distancing measures recommended by the federal and state health authorities, defined in the «National Day of Healthy Distance» to prevent population transmission of this virus The Benemérito Instituto Campechano, through the School of Communication Sciences, in its capacity as convening institution in coordination with the Social Communication Unit of the Executive Power of the State, have considered postponing the formation of the Organizing Committee of the State Prize for Journalism in its 2020 edition, the appointment of the Qualifying Jury, as well as the issuance of the call to receive the works of the contest and the solemn act of delivery of the award.
The foregoing, since there are no conditions that allow the preliminary meetings to be held to award the Prize with representatives of the media accredited in the state and legally constituted journalists’ associations from all municipalities, to form the Organizing Committee and the Qualifying Jury, and carry out the activities that the awarding of the Prize entails, in accordance with articles 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and other applicable articles of the Law of the State Journalism Prize of the State of Campeche.
Therefore, the representatives of the convening institution and the state agency, Rocío Cupul Aguilar and Carlos Medina Hernández, respectively, agreed in the presence of Luis Arturo Flores Pavón, of public notary 26 of the First Judicial District of the State, that the integration of the Organizing Committee of the Prize and the Qualifying Jury, and therefore, the issuance of the call for the reception of works and corresponding award, will be until the competent federal and state health authorities determine that the health emergency has already ceased and the resumption is feasible of this type of activities.
This determination is issued following the instructions of the state governor, Carlos Miguel Aysa González and the rector of the Campechano Institute, Gerardo Montero Pérez, to ensure the safety of representatives of the media, associations, groups and contestants, in order to guarantee equal conditions in the participation of journalists from all municipalities.
Consequently, the Campechano Institute, in coordination with the Social Communication Unit of the Executive Power of the State, will inform, in due time, the new date and place to carry out the process of forming the Committee and Jury, as well as for the expedition of the call and delivery of the State Journalism Prize 2020.
